Robbers force their way into elderly couple's home in Edmonds in broad daylight

EDMONDS, Wash. -- The search is on for robbers who forced their way into the home of an elderly couple in Edmonds.

Police said the home invasion occurred in the 1000 block of 8th Avenue South in Edmonds Monday afternoon.

Police said they’re still working to gather more details on the suspects because the couple was too shaken up at the time to give them a clear description of the thieves.

Police said an elderly couple in their 80s and 90s told them they heard a knock on their door just before 3 p.m. Monday. When the woman went to open it, they said, several people forced their way inside.

Ivan Lindhardt knows the couple and said it’s disturbing thieves targeted them.

“They are nice people, wonderful people, and they wouldn’t hurt anyone,” said Lindhardt.

Police said the couple was held in their house for nearly an hour as thieves ransacked it.

As investigators gather clues, neighbors said they’ll be taking extra measures to keep themselves safe.
