19-year-old Port Hadlock man drowns at Sandy Shore Lake in Jefferson County

PORT HADLOCK, Wash. -- A 19-year-old Port Hadlock man identified as Max Swenson drowned in Sandy Shore Lake on Sunday night, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

The sheriff's office said that deputies arrived at about 5:40 p.m. at the lake in response to a call of a possible drowning.

Witnesses said Swenson had been swimming when he began having difficulty and yelled for hope before going under water, the sheriff's office said.

Divers located Swenson's body at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
