Husband, wife dead in apparent murder-suicide near Nooksack

NOOKSACK, Wash. (AP) — Sheriff's deputies in Whatcom County found a man dead and a woman seriously injured when they responded Wednesday night to a report of a shooting near Nooksack, Washington.

The Bellingham Herald said the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office said later that the man shot his wife and then turned the shotgun on himself Wednesday evening at a mobile home east of Nooksack.

Bryan F. Roy, 51, shot his wife shortly after 6 p.m. as she was trying to leave in a truck from the 8200 block of Sebens Court, Chief Criminal Deputy Doug Chadwick told the Herald.

The woman, whom Chadwick declined to identify, was critically injured when found but she died later of her injuries, the Herald said.

The Herald said a child apparently called 911 to report the shooting.

Nooksack is northeast of Bellingham.
