Chattanooga edges out Port Angeles for 'Best Town 2015' by 5,302 votes

PORT ANGELES -- Chattanooga, Tenn., edged out Port Angeles for the title of Outside magazine's "Best Town 2015" contest, the magazine said on its website Thursday night.

"We'll be following up with coverage of both burgs in print and online this September," the magazine said.

The vote results showed Chattanooga defeated Port Angeles by a vote of 67,432 to 62,130.

Not shabby since Port Angeles has a population of 19,000 versus Chatanooga's more than 170,000.

Lesley Robertson, founder of Revitalize Port Angeles, a Facebook group with more than 1,100 members that was one of the primary movers in getting out that vote, told the Peninsula Daily News: “I could not be prouder of the town right now. People came together in a way that I didn’t even think was possible.”

A wild-card entry, Port Angeles won five rounds in the 64-city tournament-style elimination contest before competing against Chattanooga, the Southern Division winner, PDN said.
