74-year-old woman knocked to ground, injured by thief in Seward Park

SEATTLE — A thief injured and robbed a 74-year-old woman in the Seward Park neighborhood Thursday afternoon, Seattle police said.

The woman was walking in the 5900 block of South Juneau Street at 4:15 p.m. when a black male in his 20s approached from behind and knocked the woman to the ground,  breaking her leg and possibly her hip, police said.

The mugger ripped a necklace off the woman while she lay on the ground. The suspect then ran northbound on Juneau Terrace Street.

Seattle Fire Department medics responded to the scene and transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

Police were unable to locate the suspect.

Officers are asking that anyone with information about this case to call 911.
