A man, and the Internet, wait for treasure promised a year ago

A year ago, a man found the promise of hidden treasure while sipping coffee in a cafe.

Now, that man, and the Internet, sit and wait.

Reddit user Dangjasondang posted a note last year that he found in an unidentified coffee shop. The note, found in a hallowed out book, promised the finder to come back a year later to receive $300 from the person who left the note.

Dangjasondang posted the note to Reddit. Reddit users, always up for a hollow promise, immediately jumped on the post, upvoting it to a top spot.

"You better deliver," one user said. "The Reddit never forgets."

Well, Dangjasondang is seemingly prepared to deliver. He posted to Reddit early Wednesday morning, saying he is at the cafe with a sign above his head, ready to collect.

Today's post quickly became the most viewed item on Reddit. While commenters wait and wonder, most believe the note will turn out to be a hoax. Or worse, some sort of marketing scheme.

"If this ends up being a viral marketing campaign for Lipton Tea or some (expletive), I swear I'm going to murder everyone on this subreddit," one user said.

Only time will tell. (Insert chills here)
