Report: Russell Wilson missing start of OTAs for good reason

SEATTLE -- Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will miss the start of Organized Team Activities Tuesday, Pro Football Talk reported.

But no, he's not purposely missing out because of ongoing contract extension talks. According to Pro Football Talk, he decided to travel with teammate Jimmy Graham to attend the funeral of Graham's longtime manager and mentor Tamara Meyerson.

Meyerson died Friday at the age of 45. She loved Graham "as a son," Pro Football Talk reported. Wilson is likely going to support his teammate through his tough time.

Cliff Avril is also scheduled to miss OTAs because of a personal matter. Michael Bennett will likely miss the practice as well, but his absence IS due to an ongoing contract dispute, PFT reports.

During OTAs, players attend practice, seminars and lectures organized by the team. Attendance is not required by contract.
