Man stabbed in chest in Seattle's Pioneer Square; suspect arrested

SEATTLE -- A 44-year-old man was stabbed in the chest Tuesday night in Pioneer Square, police said, and officers later arrested a suspect.

Shortly before 10 p.m., police were called to 1st Avenue South and South Washington Street where a stabbing was reported. Medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center with possible life-threatening injuries.

Police began searching the area for the suspect with the help of several witnesses who saw the stabbing and the suspect’s flight. Officers located a man matching the description of the suspect several blocks away.

A witness confirmed to police that the man was the assailant. Officers arrested the man and recovered a bloodied knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack.

Detectives  will book the suspect into King County Jail on investigation of assault, police said.
