Woman who stole the mail, identities of more than 380 victims sentenced to 4 years

SEATTLE (AP) — A woman caught with hundreds of stolen checks and IDs for more than 380 victims has been sent to prison for four years.

Federal prosecutors say Bobbie Denise Catton pleaded guilty in January to possessing stolen mail and identity theft.

According to records filed in the case, Catton and her cohorts stole large volumes of mail throughout King County from homes and apartment complexes between March 2013 and early 2014.

Prosecutors say she used stolen checks, credit and debit card information and identifying documents to commit fraud.

When a King County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Catton following a traffic stop, she had dozens of credit and debit cards and bank statements that did not belong to her. She also had financial and identifying information for hundreds of others.
