TV show 'pranks' girl, 13, into thinking she would be reunited with long-lost mother

An American singer-songwriter became the victim of a "heartless" prank on a Cambodian TV show.

Autumn Allen, 13, appeared on a special Mother's Day episode of a TV show called Penh Chet Ort which translates to Like it or Not.

According to ITV News, the hosts told Allen that she was going to be reunited with her mother who she had not seen since she was 6-years-old and left the U.S. with her father.

The girl started crying and called this a "dream come true."

But the mood quickly changed when, instead, a cross-dressing comedian came on stage, identified as Chuop Rolin by the Phnom Penh Post.

People took to social media to share their thoughts on the prank called "stupid and brainless."

The network has since released a written apology.
