'It's On:' Battle brews as Patriots change profile pictures to Brady's jersey

BOSTON -- In the words of one sports reporter:

"It's on."

The New England Patriots changed the team's profile pictures on Twitter and Facebook to a photo of Quarterback Tom Brady's jersey. The move comes just a day after the league handed down a four-game suspension for his alleged part in a ball deflation scandal, as well as further punishments to the team.

This appears to be the latest move in figurative posturing between the league, the Patriots and Tom Brady. On Monday, the Internet quickly and swiftly reacted to the NFL’s announcement that New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady would be suspended for four games without pay.

This comes after the “Deflategate” incident in which the team was found to have used underinflated footballs to gain an advantage in the playoffs.

The Patriots were fined $1 million and the team will forfeit its first-round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft and fourth-round pick in the 2017 draft, the league announced Monday.

According to multiple sources, Patriots owner Robert Kraft is very upset with the league following the ruling. He released a statement that read, in part:

“Despite our conviction that there was no tampering with footballs, it was our intention to accept any discipline levied by the league," Kraft said Today’s punishment, however, far exceeded any reasonable expectation. It was based completely on circumstantial rather than hard or conclusive evidence."
