Police: Woman tried to sell 10-month-old for $500

CLEVELAND -- A Cleveland woman faces jail time after police say she tried to sell her 10-month-old daughter for $500, shortly after abandoning her 2-year-old daughter at the home of a person she just met.

According to FOX 8, 25-year-old Elizabeth Gayton attempted to sell the 10-month-old girl to a family member on two occasions. The relative eventually called police, who arrested Gayton.

Police learned that Gayton abandoned her other child, a 2-year-old, by leaving her with a person she had just met the day before. The baby's father is also accused of threatening to stab Gayton and kill their daughter.

Gayton is charged with kidnapping and child endangering. She remains in jail.
