Police release new photos in hopes of finding drive-by killers of 1-year-old in car in Kent



KENT, Wash. -- Police have released new details in the drive-by shooting death of 1-year-old Malijah Grant, including pictures of a vehicle fleeing the crime scene.

Grant died after being shot on April 19 as she rode in a car with her parents. Another car had pulled up alongside them near the intersection of Lake Fenwick Road and Reith Road in Kentand two people inside opened fire. Grant was in the back seat of the car.



In court papers. Kent detectives say the girl’s father had been involved with the Deuce 8 street gang, which has an ongoing feud with a gang called Low Profile following the shooting of John Gerald Williams in Seattle on March 19.

The girl’s parents were not injured in the shooting. The father denies being involved in a gang.

On Monday, police released images of the suspect vehicle caught on nearby surveillance. It is believed the vehicle is a black 4-door sedan with dark, tinted windows. The vehicle's make and model have not yet been positively identified.

Police are also asking for the public's help in locating a gray, 4-door 2007 Pontiac Grand Am with Washington License Plate 678-ZRL. This vehicle is considered a vehicle of interest by Kent police, and is noted as having a burned out rear passenger side break light. The vehicle was stolen recently in Renton.  The Pontiac was allegedly seen following the suspect vehicle at the time of the actual shooting.
