Crews close road for investigation into tragic SR 410 accident in Bonney Lake

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. -- City workers closed Angeline Road Tuesday so contractors could take a closer look at the SR 410 bridge, where a concrete slap fell onto a passing pickup truck and killed a family of three April 13.

Neighbors say they are concerned about the project and they hesitate to drive on the bridge as construction is likely to resume again next week.

Jeanna Farrell heard the crash when the slab fell onto the pickup two weeks ago.

"A whole family is gone now, for nothing, because someone wanted to hurry up and get their job done," she said.

On Tuesday, crews closed Angeline Road for the ongoing investigation into the tragedy.  Bonney Lake officials said debris will be removed from the scene beginning Thursday. Construction could likely resume next week.

Woody Edvalson, Bonney Lake city clerk, said, "I think the city is going to definitely make sure that the contractor proceeds in a responsible manner.  So, there will be clear communication between the contractor and the city."

Bonney Lake police detectives are still investigating the incident.
