Neagle, Martins propel Sounders past Rapids 3-1

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — Lamar Neagle scored twice in the first half, Obafemi Martins added a stunning goal in the second and the Seattle Sounders beat the Colorado Rapids 3-1 on Saturday night.

Seattle (3-2-1) beat Colorado (1-2-3) for the fifth straight time, outscoring the Rapids 14-3.

Neagle bent in his first goal of the season from the corner of the 18-yard box in the fifth minute. Colorado equalized in the 22nd, but Neagle put Seattle back on top 2 minutes later when he tapped in the rebound of his own attempt.

Seattle had not scored in its previous two road games this season. Martins used a beautiful individual effort in the 73rd minute to score his fourth goal of the year. After a Colorado turnover near midfield, Andy Rose sent a long ball over the top of the Colorado defense. Martins' back-heel first-touch split two defenders and he chipped goalkeeper Clint Irwin.

Colorado's lone goal came when Dillon Powers slid a ball past Seattle's backline and Gabriel Torres slotted it inside the far post.
