Church vigil packed for family of 3 who were killed by concrete slab falling from overpass

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- Members of a Puyallup church are mourning the loss of two of their youth pastors and the couple's baby who were killed when a concrete barrier fell from the SR 410 overpass and crushed their pickup truck.

Josh and Vanessa Ellis and their 8-month old son, Hudson, were all killed in accident Monday morning.

It was a standing-room only crowd inside the victims' Eastpointe Foursquare Church in Puyallup for a vigil Tuesday night. There were a lot of hugs and tears, especially from the younger members of the congregation, as both Josh and Vanessa were youth pastors.

Among those grieving at the vigil were Hudson`s godparents, Shane and Kayla Lance, who were leading worship.

They said there`s no denying the hurt the church family is feeling, but they have faith that their friends are in a better place.

"This is so unjust but God is just," said Kayla Lance.

There are still a lot of questions that remain about how this happened and if proper safety precautions were followed.

Work on that SR 410 construction project has been halted for now, as the investigation continues.
