FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. -- The Washington State Patrol bomb squad was called to Friday Harbor after someone discovered what they thought were explosives and drove them to the courthouse.

According to SanJuanIslander.com, a resident was cleaning out their father's place on Sunday and discovered the suspicious material, and then drove it to the San Juan County Courthouse.

The Islander reports deputies blocked off 2nd Street from Court to Guard Streets around 2:40 p.m. Authorities noticed the plastic was "sweating" and took photos of the explosives to send to the U.S. Navy for more information.

The bomb squad was called in from Everett, and later determined the substance was non-explosive.

Officials began reopening roads in the area around 8:00 p.m.
