Magnitude 4.9 earthquake hits off Vancouver Island

PORT HARDY, British Columbia (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says a moderate earthquake struck west of Vancouver Island.

The magnitude 4.9 temblor struck around 12:22 p.m. Wednesday about 90 miles southwest of Port Hardy, British Columbia.

No tsunami warning was issued.

There were no immediate reports of damage.
