5-year-old boy struck by car in Everett dies of his injuries

EVERETT -- A 5-year-old boy who was struck by a car Friday night has died from his injuries, police said Monday.

The accident occurred in the 2400 block of Colby Avenue.

Police said witnesses reported that the car, driven by a 74-year-old Bothell man, had stopped for pedestrians at a marked crosswalk. As the car took off afterward, the boy darted into the street from behind a parked vehicle and the car was unable to stop in time, police said.

The driver remained at the scene, and there was no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident. No charges against the driver are expected, police said.

The boy died Sunday from his injuries at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, police said.
