FBI spokesperson Ayn Dietrich said that 27-year-old Jeremy Schlenker was arrested near Salem, Oregon at 2:30 p.m. He was pulled over by Oregon State Police troopers while traveling south on Interstate 5 near mile marker 252.

A woman who was in the car with Schlenker, 25-year-old Amber Woodcock, was also arrested. Dietrich said that a weapon was found in the car.

Schlenker was being sought in connection with the deadly shooting of a man at 12:45 a.m. in the Emerald Queen’s parking lot. A man was trying to pull out of a parking spot when another vehicle pulled up behind his car and blocked him. When the victim got out of his car, he was shot and died at the scene.

Dietrich said that there is no known connection between Schlenker and the victim. The identity of the victim has not been released.

Puyallup Tribes spokesperson John Weymer said that security cameras at Emerald Queen Casino were able to get a good shot of the suspect vehicle as it left, and that they could identify the license plate from the video.

The FBI is the lead agency in the investigation, which is standard procedure with a major crime on tribal land.
