SEATTLE — On Thursday, there was a 270-ton lift of Bertha’s upper front body segment to the surface to being repairs on the tunnel boring machine.

This is a time-lapse taken from the view of the cab operator of the crane that lifted the segment. It was published by the Washington State Department of Transportation.

    It sickens me how much money has been spent to move 99 underground, from all the “studies” beforehand, to the continuing Bertha debacle. We could have fixed or replaced the existing 99 for a lot less money, so much better uses for all that money…but cool video!
