Puyallup School District says threatening message found in middle school bathroom not credible

PUYALLUP -- Officials increased security at Stahl Jr. High after a threatening message was found on a bathroom wall.

According to the school website, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office determined the threat was not credible. The school contacted families to notify them. As parents dropped off their kids Friday morning, there was extra security on campus.

“I mean it is always concerning as far as just our kids’ safety, but honestly I think the school handled it well,” said Kimberlyn Totten, parent. “I trust that the police did a good job to investigate."

The school district did not release any information regarding the nature of the threat.

“Any threat we do take seriously. We want to make sure we are providing a safe campus for our kids,” said Brian Fox, Puyallup School District spokesperson.

Fox added some parents may have kept their kids at home Friday, but attendance appeared to be normal.
