Police hope to verify safety of naked spring breaker

BAY COUNTY, Fla. -- Sheriff's deputies in Florida hope to verify the well-being of a young female spring breaker who was caught on camera naked on a beach surrounded by a group of males.

Deputies told the Orlando Sentinel that the female, who was wearing nothing more than a pile of beads and a vague expression,  is not in trouble, but that they are trying to check on her safety and determine whether or not the pictures were taken consensually.

The identity and age of the female was not known.

"We aren't trying to get her in trouble," Bay County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Ruth Corley told the Sentinel. "We want to make sure she isn't in trouble."

Deputies reported that photos of the female were posted to Twitter on March 11, but the exact date and time they were taken was unknown. In one picture, the female appeared to be dancing on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico. In another, the female attempts to cover herself, but appears to be surrounded by a group of men.

The photos have since been taken down from Twitter.

"We want to make sure she is OK, check her well-being and make sure the pictures were consensual," Corley told the Sentinel.

Anyone with information on either of the cases is asked to contact the Bay County Sheriff's Office at 850-747-4700 or Crime Stoppers at 850-785-TIPS (8477).
