Fractured wrist to keep M's Taylor out 4-6 weeks

PEORIA, Ariz. - The battle for the starting shortstop position with the Seattle Mariners has come to an abrupt end, at least for now.

The team announced on Saturday that Chris Taylor has suffered a fractured right wrist, and will be out for at least 4-6 weeks. The wrist was fractured when he was hit by a pitch in the 6th inning of Friday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Taylor will be in a brace for between 7-10 days, then will start rehab. He had been hitting .421 for the spring, with a home run and four runs batted in.

The injury means that Brad Miller will likely be the starting shortstop when the M’s open the season. Miller is hitting .400 so far in the spring, with two homers, two doubles and three RBIs.
