Yakima corrections officers fired for sexual comments

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) --€” Two newly hired Yakima County corrections officers were fired for making sexual comments to a woman at the state Criminal Justice Training Center in Burien.

Corrections Director Ed Campbell says the incident occurred at the police academy about three weeks ago, and both men were dismissed when they returned to Yakima two weeks ago.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the woman was going through training for another agency.

Campbell said Monday the men were part of a pool of five officers hired recently and sent to the academy for training.

The names of the officers involved were not released.
