Spokane Valley man accused of using Seahawks' names to obtain narcotics

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Washington state Department of Labor and Industries says a 34-year-old man accused of faking on-the-job injuries and using the last names of Seattle Seahawks players to obtain prescription drugs has been charged with 12 felony counts.

Charges filed by the state attorney general allege that Jeffory Leonard Mock Jr. of Spokane Valley obtained controlled substances and prescription drugs by fraud. Arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday.

Mock is accused of visiting eight Spokane-area hospitals and clinics 17 times from March 2013 to May 2014. Each time, he claimed to have been hurt on the job, usually injuring his back.

He's accused of filing claims using variations on his first name or another first name that usually started with "j." For the last name, he typically signed the surname of a Seattle Seahawks player or another NFL player or coach. The borrowed names included Sherman, Okung, Harvin, Largent, Marino and Bledsoe.
