Officials: Woman kills daughter, self in home near Bonney Lake

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. -- The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department says that a woman shot and killed her teen daughter, then herself, at a home near Bonney Lake on Friday night.

Department spokesperson Ed Troyer said that deputies were called out to the home, on the 20400 block of Rhododendron Drive East, around 10:40 p.m. on Friday by the woman’s boyfriend. He found the two bodies in the daughter's bedroom after returning home from work and then called 911, Troyer said.

Investigators found a note at the home. Troyer said that note was written by the mother, and that it gave deputies enough information to determine that the mother had killed her daughter and then herself.

Sarah Gillispie of the Sumner School District said that a Crisis Response Team will be at Bonney Lake High School on Monday to help students, faculty and staff.

The names of the two deceased would not be released until Monday.
