4.4 magnitude earthquake shakes, wakes town

KITTITAS COUNTY - Folks in Kittitas County got quite a jolt Wednesday morning. The US Geological Society (USGS) reported that a 4.4 magnitude quake hit near Cle Elum at 1:04 am. There were two small aftershocks, registering 0.9 and 0.1 shortly after the first quake.

The Kittitas Sheriff's dispatch center and Cle Elum police said that many people called to report the quake, but there were no reports of damage.

The USGS reported that the 4.4 quake was recorded at a depth of 5.1 miles.
