4 teenage girls arrested for mugging 2 women in Seattle

SEATTLE -- Four teenage girls were arrested for beating up and robbing two women in Seattle's Dunlap neighborhood, police said Wednesday.

Police said the women told officers they were walking on the Mapes Creek Walkway, near 52nd Avenue South, at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday when four teens approached. A teen asked one of the women for a dollar and when the victim said she didn’t have any money, the suspects attacked her.

The woman’s friend tried to intervene, and the teens attacked her, too, police said.

The suspects took the victims’ cell phones and a backpack. Both victims suffered facial injuries, police said.

Police tracked the teens down to a nearby library, where the victims identified them, police said.

All four suspects were booked into the Youth Services Center.

Ages of the suspects were not provided.
