TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Video cameras on school buses will snap photos of drivers who pass school buses illegally in southeast Pierce County.

The Bethel School District is cracking down starting Monday with special cameras will be affixed to about 10 district buses.

The cameras will snap pictures of vehicles that pass buses when they should be stopped. The cameras will be rotated between routes.

The News Tribune says the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department will review the photos and issue a $394 fine to violators.

The district serves about 18,000 students over 215 square miles.

so what is wrong with having a few extra bike cops out in front of the bus and nail them right then , stop the car and tow it away and pay fine the same day the car is towed . the same thing for fire trucks when people do not stop for fire trucks . pull them over and tow the car away right then

Tickets? No no no, these kind of drivers who have no regard for the safety of those children, or anyone else on the road for that matter, should just find their licenses yanked, or their car towed. Driving is a privilege, not a right. Real punishments please and thank you.

This is complete BS. When I was a kid, busses stopped in parking lots, instead of every other turn on a given road. The roads are limited and are not intended for vehicles that stop every 100 yards and block traffic because Sally and Bob decided to breed. Breeders don’t have extra rights to the road. If they get extra rights, they should be the ones paying for them. I cant stop every 100 yards and force people to wait on me because of the things in life that matter to me. Neither should Sally and Bob. If you want your kids to be safe, then don’t expect it to be everyone else’s problem to make your children safe. Do your own job since you destroyed your own carbon footprint by creating another useless, entitled human.
