Portions of Pierce College evacuated after suspicious substance scare; nothing hazardous found

PUYALLUP, Washington -- The library at Pierce College in Puyallup was evacuated Friday after someone drove a car up onto a walkway nearby and witnesses reported seeing a suspicious substance inside that car.

It happened just around 11:00 a.m. said Puyallup Police.



Emergency responders were called to the scene along with a hazardous materials team. Around 2:30 p.m., it was discovered the substance inside the car was not hazardous.



Classes at Pierce College were cancelled for the entire day.
