University of Washington Bothell building first dormitory

BOTHELL, Wash. (AP) — The University of Washington Bothell plans to start construction in 2017 on a 500-student dormitory.

It would be the first dorm on the branch campus, although it also has housing for about 250 students in apartments it acquired in Bothell.

Spokeswoman Laura Mansfield told the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce prospective students want "the traditional undergraduate experience" of a dorm.

She says UW Bothell enrollment is expected to increase from about 5,000 now to 7,500 in five years.
