Patrol car rammed at Maple Valley, King County deputy OK
MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) — A King County sheriff's deputy was able to get out of the way and wasn't injured when a stolen pickup truck rammed a patrol car in Maple Valley.
The sheriff's office says the deputy was checking on a man sleeping in the truck about 2 a.m. Thursday when the man backed at a high rate of speed into the patrol car.
The man abandoned the truck about a half-mile away and escaped despite a search that included a police dog and sheriff's helicopter.
The pickup was stolen on Jan. 21 in Renton and had its license plates switched.
