Report: UW president 'sole finalist' for Texas A&M job

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The president of the University of Washington is expected to be named the "sole finalist" to become the next Texas A&M president, the Texas Tribune reported.

The Texas Tribune reported Michael Young will likely be tapped to become President of Texas A&M. The move is slated to be announced to the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents Tuesday evening. The board of regents has to approve Young's hire before he will be officially named president.

The University of Washington declined to comment on a potential move.

Young became president of UW in July 2011, replacing Phyllis Wise. He previously attended Harvard University, and spent 20 years teaching at Columbia University Law School. He has also served on the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.

No potential replacement for UW president has been named.
