OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Some lawmakers want to end the annual shift to daylight saving time and put Washington on standard time year around.

A hearing on the bill is scheduled Tuesday before the House Committee on State Government in Olympia.

The bill is sponsored by Rep. Elizabeth Scott of Monroe.

Currently, Washington shifts to daylight saving time from the second Sunday in March through the first Sunday in November to extend daylight in the evenings. The rest of the year Washington is on standard time in the Pacific zone.

I presume this is a developing story? Did Rep. Elizabeth Scott give a reason why she wants to end the shift? Maybe she doesn’t know how to manually adjust the clocks in her home, office or car? Or maybe it’s just too much trouble? An “inconvenience”? More details, please.

Rather than move the clocks ahead an hour this spring just move them a half an hour then leave them be, the best of both worlds.

Need to stay on Daylight savings time, that way we have more light, I hate this time of year from Nov to March where you go to work in the dark and get home in the dark. Its so depressing. If they are going to make the change don’t do it on standard time. Studies have shown that people are more depressed and more accidents happen from Nov to March because of the lack of daylight.

We need to stay on daylight savings time! Winters are too long and dreary as it is! Washington state has the most depressed people in the nation…due to the sunlight being gone. Leave well enough alone! If she doesn’t like it here…move to Arizona! But leave OUR daylight savings alone!
