Lakes High School cheers on one of their alumni -- Seahawks' Jermaine Kearse

LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- At Lakes High School, there is a saying, “Once a Lancer, always a Lancer.” So when the Seahawks take the field Sunday, students and faculty will be cheering for one of their own wide receiver -- Jermaine Kearse.

On Blue Friday, the school celebrated the Seahawks with a pep rally honoring Kearse. Several students and teachers wore his #15 Seahawks jersey.

"It's been exciting for not only our school, the whole community, and the whole area. I mean it's just been fun. I know even people in Seattle are excited that a local boy has helped the Seahawks," said football coach Dave Miller.

The former Lakes Lancer excelled in track, basketball, and football. After graduating in 2008, he went on to play football at the University of Washington.

"What a dream situation for Jermaine to grow up go to high school, college, and now play for the hometown team, it's been amazing," said Miller.

Hundreds of students filled the gym for the Seahawks rally prior to Sunday's Super Bowl.
