SPD: Five injured after shooting, crash near DT Seattle

Five people were injured early Sunday morning after a shooting and vehicle crash in Seattle early Sunday morning.

Reports of shots being fired near Denny Way and Stewart Street started around 1 am, said Seattle Police Det. Patrick Michaud. Callers to 911 said that the scene emptied out quickly after the shots, with a “distinctive orange car” speeding from the area.

Soon after, the Washington State Patrol was responding to an orange Dodge that had crashed on I-5 at Union Street. When troopers arrived, they found one of the passengers with a gunshot wound. Four others in the car were also injured.

Michard said that Seattle officers brought a witness to the shooting to the crash scene, and that person identified one of the passengers in the car as the shooter. That person, a 25-year-old man, was arrested and booked into the King County Jail.

The gunshot victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center for wounds to his stomach and leg. He is in serious condition. Michard said that four other passengers in the car were also taken to Harborview for treatment of their injuries from the crash. Their injuries are non-life threatening.
