Mother arrested after 3 kids slashed at Olympia home

A 29-year-old woman has been arrested after three of her children were found with their necks slashed early Sunday morning.

Officers were called out to the home on 10th Court SE just before 1:20 am, according to Olympia Police spokesperson Lt. Jim Costa. They arrived to find three infants, a 2-year-old and 6-month-old twins, bleeding from their necks. The children were immediately taken away for treatment, and are now at Tacoma’s Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, where all three have undergone surgery for their wounds. Their injuries are considered life-threatening, Costa said.

The parents of the three children were both home at the time of the attack, Costa said, and were both immediately taken to OPD headquarters for questioning.

After the questioning, the 29-year-old mother of the three children was arrested. She has been booked into the Thurston County Jail on three counts of attempted murder. The father was released.

Detectives from Olympia Police and the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office are still at the home, processing the scene.
