Man kneeling in street hit, killed by car in Marysville

A man was killed early Sunday after being hit by a car on a Marysville street.

Officers were called to the 4700 block of 88th Street NE just before 3 am, according to Marysville Police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux. They arrived to find that a car traveling east on the street had hit a man in the street. The victim, a 39-year-old Marysville, man, was declared dead at the scene.

Investigators learned that the man was kneeling in the middle of the eastbound lane just before the crash. He stood up right before the car hit him, and Lamoureux said that the driver of the car had no chance to stop before contact.

Lamoureux said that there was no impairment with the driver of the car, but toxicology tests and an autopsy will determine of the victim was impaired.

Anyone with information on the incident is being asked to contact Marysville Police Sgt. James Maples at 360-363-8350.
