SEATTLE (AP) — A 44-year-old man who says he was off his medications and under the influence of alcohol has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in his mother's stabbing death in November 2012.

Court records show 69-year-old Margaret Ryan was stabbed 18 times in the neck.

The Seattle Times reports (http://is.gd/QGck5I ) that Brodie Lamb is a schizophrenic with substance-abuse problems. He was originally charged with first-degree murder. He entered his plea to the lesser charge on Friday.
