Two men shot in downtown Seattle near Q13 FOX News crew

SEATTLE -- Two people were shot Wednesday night in downtown Seattle just a block away from one of our news crews.

According to Seattle police, officers on foot patrol heard the gunfire near Westlake Center just after 8 p.m. and ran toward the sound of the shots. Officers saw a group running from 3rd and Pine Street where they found two wounded men.

Medics transported the men to Harborview Medical Center. A 25-year-old man was listed in critical condition and a 16-year-old boy in serious condition.

It's unclear what led to the shooting. Late Wednesday, police said officers were still working to get a description of the suspect or suspects.

Detectives were also working with local businesses to find if the incident was caught on surveillance video.

A Q13 FOX News crew was inside a van editing a news story just a block away when they heard shots ring out. Our reporter and photographer were unharmed.

"This one was a little too close for comfort," said Lynch. "We were working out of our news van at 2nd and Pine when we heard about half a dozen gunshots. We hunkered down for a few minutes and when we got out, two men were hobbling toward us. It was obvious they had been shot."

The gunfire sent dozens of people running for cover, fear on their faces as they tried to escape danger.

"I was walking from McDonald's, I came out and there was a group of men, black men, and they started shooting this way -- about six, seven shots, " said witness Gailen Lopton. "It was unreal, crazy, not something I want to experience again. Apparently two guys got shot and it's scary. This happening in downtown? It's not OK."

Police blocked off several streets around 8:00 p.m. for the investigation.

There have been many shootings, stabbings and fights at 3rd and Pine and those who live, work and play here have had enough.

"They need to cut this out. Like this isn't appropriate. If there are kids around or anything, old people, it's not supposed to be happening in downtown Seattle, you know,” Lopton said.
