Fire rips through RV repair shop in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD - Firefighters battled smoke and flames at an RV repair shop in Lakewood late Tuesday night. A passerby saw the fire at the Lentz RV facility on 96th Street Southwest and called 9-1-1, Chief Hallie McCurdy, with West Pierce Fire & Rescue, reported.

Firefighters arrived at the fire just after 11:15 pm. and encountered heavy smoke coming from the front of the building, McCurdy said. Conditions inside the facility forced firefighters to fight the fire from the outside. Heavy flames shot out of the roof, just before the roof collapse, McCurdy said.

The fire was under control around 1 a.m. Wednesday and there were no reported injuries to any firefighters. At least one vehicle inside the facility was destroyed, McCurdy said.

The cause of the fire and the damage estimate are under investigation.
