USS Nimitz moving home port from Everett to Bremerton

BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) — The Navy says the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz will move across Puget Sound on Tuesday as it shifts its home port from Everett to Bremerton.

The ship is scheduled for a 16-month overhaul at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

The Nimitz returned to Everett in December 2013 after a nine-month deployment in which it saw action in the Afghanistan War. It also entered the Mediterranean Sea where the strike group conducted operations with NATO allies.
