YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office says detectives have arrested a man in Tennessee who was sought on a manslaughter warrant in the March 2013 fatal shooting of his pregnant wife in Washington state.
Detective Sgt. Mike Russell said Wednesday that 27-year-old Cory Lindblom was arrested Tuesday evening in the Memphis area. He was booked into jail on a Yakima County Superior Court warrant accusing him of first-degree manslaughter.
Russell says the man is accused of recklessly causing the death of 27-year-old McKaylee Higgs at the couple’s Yakima County home.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports (http://is.gd/Qxu1mu) that investigators have said Lindblom told them he shot his wife at night after mistaking her for an intruder. It wasn’t known late Wednesday whether he had a lawyer.
County Coroner Jack Hawkins said earlier that doctors reported Higgs suffered irreparable brain damage. She died after being taken off life support. The coroner said she was 10 weeks pregnant. The fetus also died.
Lindblom is expected to be returned to Washington.
