Former UW student deported after cyberstalking conviction

SEATTLE (AP) — U.S. officials have deported a former University of Washington student from India who was convicted of cyberstalking for making threats on social media.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Friday that 24-year-old Keshav Bhide left the country on a Wednesday flight out of Seattle.

Bhide was accused of posting online threats to kill women at the University of Washington in solidarity with Elliot Rodger, who went on a murderous rampage in California in May. Threats using the name "Foss Dark" were linked to Bhide.

He was charged in both state and federal court.

Bhide was convicted on Dec. 11 in King County Superior Court and sentenced to a six-month suspended sentence. In a deal with federal prosecutors, the federal indictment for making interstate threats will be dismissed after he leaves the U.S.

An immigration judge last week ordered him removed from the country. He cannot return to the U.S. for 10 years.
