Heading over the pass for the holidays? Heavy snow impacts drivers in Cascades

SEATTLE -- Heavy snowfall triggered a Winter Weather Advisory in the Cascades after several inches of snow fell in a short amount of time in the mountain passes.

Snow, slush and ice covered the roadway on U.S. 2 and Interstate 90 Wednesday morning. Traction tires were advised early this morning and over-sized loads were not permitted.

Ten inches of snow was expected to fall in some places before the Winter Weather Advisory expired on Wednesday morning.

Drivers should use caution if they plan to drive over the passes for the holiday, officials encouraged.
