Deputies shoot, kill suspect in Tacoma killing after body found



PIERCE COUNTY -- Sheriff's deputies shot and killed an armed homicide suspect who allegedly shot at officers while they arrived on scene to investigate a killing in Tacoma.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to reports of a shooting early Wednesday morning at the Woodmark Apartments in the 2400 block of 96th Street South. Deputies found a recently deceased body at the apartments, a man in his 20s, in what appeared to be a drug deal gone bad, deputies told Q13 FOX News.

Information provided by witnesses said the suspect in the shooting was at the Drake Apartments a few blocks away. There, the suspect fired at officers in a hallway as they arrived to question him. Deputies returned fire, killing the suspect.

No officers were hurt in the shooting, deputies said.

The suspect who fired at officers was a known white supremacist, deputies said.

Deputies are still investigating both scenes. The Pierce County Medical Examiner will release the names of both deceased.
