Aberdeen elementary school closed after threatening phone call

GRAYS HARBOR COUNTY -- An Aberdeen elementary school was closed and students were sent home Wednesday after a threat against the school's principal was called in to the district.

The principal at Stevens Elementary School received a threatening phone call from an adult man early Wednesday, Aberdeen Police Capt. John Green said.

The school and the administration building went into lockdown following the threat. Classes were canceled for the school, and students who were already on campus were sent home.

Other schools in the Aberdeen School District were operating normally Wednesday.

Police said they identified the person who made the threat to the principal and were investigating the call. School is expected to operate normally Thursday.

School administrators are discussing what to do about classes Thursday.
