Clerk accused of switching $1,000 Washington lottery ticket for $3 one

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — A Steilacoom store clerk is accused of stealing lottery winnings by switching tickets.

The Olympian reports an undercover Washington state Lottery investigator went to the store this week with a ticket worth $1,000. The clerk scanned it and said it was worth $3.

She was arrested by Olympia police when she went to the Lottery headquarters and tried to claim the $1,000 prize.

She said she must have mixed up tickets on the sales counter with one she bought.
