62-year-old man suspected of several burglaries in Madrona neighborhood arrested

SEATTLE -- A 62-year-old man suspected of several burglaries in Seattle's Madrona neighborhood was arrested after he was stopped in a parking lot and found to have several stolen items on him, police said Friday.

An East Precinct patrol officer spotted the suspect standing in a parking lot the 1100 block of 23rd Avenue around 12:45 p.m. Thursday and stopped to talk to him.

The suspect said he was not the burglar officers were looking for, and offered up a fake name to police. However, officers were able to confirm his identity and take him into custody, police said.

When officers searched the man, they found he was carrying several stolen items, including an iPhone taken in a recent car prowl, police said.

Police booked the man into the King County Jail, and detectives are now investigating him for several recent burglaries in the Madrona area, police said.
